Chromatic Banana was founded in november 2002. I was thinking of a remake of a band from the ’80-’90-ties called Milkshake Banana. This was a successful fusion band which we had with my two brothers Koen and Johan. Also Frank Michiels -percussion-, Michel Ardui and Eric Vermeulen -piano-, Maarten Weyler and Ferdinand Philipo -bass- have been members of that band.
So I started Chromatic Banana, also after a name of the Phil Woods’ record from 1971. Phil Woods has always been my hero and I needed to make a link to him as well. Our style is not so different of what we did so many years ago. All kinds of styles are mixed in this band.
